Digitimes has announced that 204 million large-size TFT-LCD panels were shipped globally in the last quarter of 2016, which is a drop of 3.7% on quarter and 6.1% on year, quoting IDC as the source, although we didn’t have confirmation from IDC at press time. As regards notebooks, 48 million were shipped in the last quarter which is a rise of 5.1% sequentially to reach the highest quarterly level since the first quarter of 2013.
For monitors and TVs, shipments fell 3.4% for monitors and 4.5% on TVs for the quarter.
The biggest maker of large-size LCD panels in the fourth quarter was BOE Technology with a 22% share of the shipments. They were followed by LG Display with 19.1%, Innolux with 16.2%, AU Optronics with 13.6% and Samsung Display with 10.4%.
