Kobo claims that its new 6″ Glo HD eReader has ‘the highest resolution screen available on the market’, at an unusual 1448 x 1072 resolution (300 ppi).
An E Ink Carta display (Display Monitor Vol 20 No 35) is used in the eReader, as well as a front light. The device uses a 1GHz processor and 4GB of storage.
Kobo says that a user reading for 30 minutes a day, with the front light and Wi-Fi turned off, will be able to use the unit for two months without charging it (although we consider that a very specific use-case! – TA).
The Glo HD will be launched in Canada, the USA, Australia and New Zealand on 1st May, for $130, with a European launch following in late May (France) and early June.
Comment This eReader has the same resolution as Amazon’s Kindle Voyage, for $70 less – good deal! (TA)
