Vuzix® Corporation (VUZI), a leading supplier of video eyewear and smart glasses products in the consumer, enterprise and entertainment markets, is pleased to announce that KDDI R&D Laboratory, with headquarters in Fujimino City, Saitama Prefecture, Japan has developed a custom remote support software application for Android based Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses.
KDDI R&D Lab is a subsidiary of KDDI Corporation, a leading provider of international telecommunications services. The KDDI R&D Labs’ solution leverages the camera and head mounted display of the Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses to overlay Augmented Reality (AR) images on the user’s real-time view to aid in remote support applications. Technicians can work more efficiently and hands-free by viewing the AR image on the M100, as opposed to holding a smartphone or tablet to view the screen.
Beginning on December 1, 2015, this software application will be offered as optional function to the Vista Finder Mx, KDDI R&D Labs’ remote support system currently sold in Japan. Vista Finder Mx is capable of broadcasting live video taken by smart phone, tablet, mobile PC, and now on Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses, safely and at high quality on any network connection.
KDDI R&D Labs will showcase this new application at Inter BEE 2015 in Vuzix Corporation’s booth (hall 5 5614) in Makuhari Messe, November 18 – 20, 2015. Pricing is available upon request
