Despite Apple putting up the majority of the $1.4 billion investment in a new Japan Display LCD plant, JDI will be free to mass-produce products for other vendors at the facility. According to the Japanese paper Nikkan, JDI will be able to take on other work as long as it does not conflict with ‘key Apple mass production periods’.
