Apple has promoted Jony Ive to the newly created position of chief design officer. CEO Tim Cook said in a memo to Apple staff that in his new role, Ive will remain responsible for all Apple’s current design projects, new ideas and future initiatives. From 1st July, he will hand over his day-to-day managerial responsibilities for industrial design and user interface design to Richard Howarth and Alan Dye respectively.
