iPhone Wins OLED Burn-In Test Over Samsung Galaxy

Korean tech website Cetizen recently performed an extreme OLED burn-in test on three of the smartphone industry’s most popular handsets: the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Apple iPhone X.

Each handset displayed an identical static image at full brightness for 510 hours. The iPhone X began to exhibit signs of burn-in at just 17 hours in, though the effect never got serious enough to be noticed in normal use.

Though the Galaxy Note 8 took a lot longer to show any burn-in, around 62 hours, it was a lot more noticeable than that of the iPhone X and by the end of the test, the Note 8 was displaying the worst burn-in effect of all three handsets.

The S7 Edge fell down somewhere between the two, while Apple’s OLED burn-in prevention measures won the day.
