Intercity Guides Travellers From the Hotel Lobby

The Intercity hotel chain is rolling out a ‘virtual concierge’ to its locations in German-speaking European countries. Installed by MIB GmbH, the first concierge was an 82″ display (1920 x 1080) at Intercity Berlin. Image and control (touch) signals are sent over CAT-7, via professional extenders, to a control room 50m away. The system is active 24/7. New systems, using 46″ displays, have been installed in Ingolstadt, Kiel and Vienna, with Dammtor and Enschede locations to be added this year. All Intercity hotels in Germany will use the virtual concierge next year. MIB designed the system, but could not provide any more information about the screens.
