At this year’s Touch Taiwan exhibition, Innolux president Robert Shiao told the Taipei Times that the company will begin assembling TVs in India before the end of 2018, in order to take advantage of the country’s “Make in India” initiative and its tax incentives.
Shiao refused to confirm nor deny speculation around potential clients for the new line, but he did confirm Sharp as one of them. The Foxconn subsidiary was Innolux’ first new client when it re-entered the TV assembly business in 2017. Vizio’s name also cropped up during the conversation, though Shiao declined to comment on a potential partnership.
