Innolux has forecast a net profit for this year which will exceed last year’s NT$21.6 billion ($698.7 million). The company says the improvement will be driven by strong demand for its TV panels, including new curved screens, thanks to Innolux’s diversifying product strategy and focus on high-margin products. Innolux plans to produce more wide-colour gamut TV panels, with the aim of making the panels a standard specification for 50″ TVs. To support the strong demand for its TV panels, Innolux is building a new 8.6G line in its Kaohsiung plant, as well as a 6G production line to make TV and smartphone panels.
Last month, Innolux reported a 3.7% month on month and 14.1% year on year fall in sales to NT$31.2 billion ($1 billion). Sales in the first five months of the year reached NT$163.7 billion ($5.3 billion). The company’s large panel shipments increased 7.6% sequentially to 10.8 million units, while small and medium sized panel shipments were 5.4% higher at 19.3 million units.
