IGEL Technology has been recognised as the fastest growing of the top 5 thin and zero client manufacturers in the UK in 2014 with hardware shipments rising 56% year-on-year, according to the latest analyst report from International Data Corporation (IDC).
IGEL significantly outperformed the market, which grew by 10% overall, as reported by the IDC Enterprise Client Device Tracker report for 2014.
In addition, IGEL sold 14,000 licenses for its Universal Desktop Converter 2 (UDC2) software thin clients, which is used to convert old PCs, notebooks and thin clients into IGEL-like devices. The UDC2 software is increasingly being used by businesses to cost effectively extend the life of their current desktops to deliver a Cloud or Server-Based Computing architecture or to produce a shorter return on investment when migrating to a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environment.
“UK businesses are turning to IGEL because of our reputation for customer focus and quality German engineering,” said Simon Richards, IGEL’s UK & Ireland Managing Director. “We offer customers open architecture thin and zero clients that allow them to take advantage of the best back-end IT infrastructure for their business – whether it’s cloud, virtual or server-based computing.”
