Sweden’s Handheld Group has developed its first ‘ultra-rugged’ tablet: a 7″ Android model called the ALGIZ RT7.
IP65-compliant, the RT7 also meets the MIL-STD-810G standards of the US military. It is protected against drops, vibrations and extreme temperatures, as well as being waterproof and sealed against sand and dust.
Designed for mobility, the RT7 weighs 650g. It outputs 600 cd/m² of brightness and has 1024 x 600 resolution. A Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, runs Android 5.1.1 and is supported by 1GB of RM and 16GB of storage.
The tablet features dual SIM slots, USB-A, micro-USB and RJ45 ports. A 6,000mAh battery is installed, and users can optionally choose to include a 2D imager and/or RFID. As well as WiFi, the tablet features a 4G cellular connection. Dual cameras (8MP rear and 2MP front) are also built in.
Handheld Group is taking orders for the RT7 now; shipments will begin in December.
