Revenue generated by the German AV market will exceed €10 billion this year for the first time. The forecast comes from the Association of Commercial Broadcasters and Audiovisual Services in Germany (VPRT). VPRT expects the market to rise 5.5% YoY, based on a total revenue generation of €10.2 billion.
VPRT forecasts 8.3% growth in the pay-TV market, with SVoD rising 17% and transactional (one-time) VoD up 10%. Overall, this leads to a combined growth of 8.5% to €2.4 billion, and €2.5 billion including digital video sales. 25% growth is expected for paid audio, to €500 million. Paid AV content, then, will generate a total of €3 billion.
TV is still the strongest revenue generator in the German advertising market, with 2.5% growth taking revenues to €4.4 billion. Radio advertising will generation €740 million and audio advertising €10 million (combined 0.3% growth), while online and mobile advertising will generate €1.4 billion (2.4% combined; online 1%, mobile 16%). The teleshopping sector will rise 4% to €1.8 billion.
