Fraunhofer COMEDD has developed colour-tunable OLED lighting panels, and showed them off at the recent LOPEC event in Munich, Germany.
Colour tunability is the feature most desired by lighting designers after flexibility, according to Fraunhofer. The organisation uses a stacked approach, with blue and yellow emitters on top of each other. This means that the panels can be both colour-tunable and transparent. However, it does limit the size of the units – currently the panels have about an 80mm diameter.
