The US Department of Defense (DoD) has awarded FlexTech Alliance $75 million in federal funding to establish and manage a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) for Flexible Hybrid Electronics. The award will be made over a five year period and is being matched by more than $96 million in cost sharing from non-federal sources, including the City of San Jose, private companies, universities, several US states and not-for-profit organisations.
The MII will distribute R&D funds via competitively-bid project calls and will also offer education and training in flexible hybrid electronics manufacturing.
