Fraunhofer FEP will present the results of its works on flexible electronics at Plastic Electronics 2014 (7th-9th October in Grenoble, France). As well as displays, the institute has examined devices such as flexible lighting elements and circuit boards.
A roll-to-roll process line is used by Fraunhofer FEP (Display Monitor Vol 21 No 20). The line enables the application of organic materials for OLEDs, organic photodiodes (OPD) or organic photovoltaics (OPV) on flexible substrates. An additional printing process is used for the flexible electronic contacts required by the devices. With partner co-operation, the scientists are now able to develop ‘optimised’ products for the required process steps, under production conditions.
