FDA Separates Fitness Trackers From Health Products

The USA’s Food and Drug Administration has issued draft guidance (http://tinyurl.com/q24e7qn) on rules to follow for vendors to get wearable devices classified as ‘general wellness’ products (i.e. not a device for treating specific medical conditions). This certification can protect companies from, for example, a consumer who wants to sue because a relaxation device didn’t cure their panic attacks.
