FCC Delays ASO in USA – For Some

Low-power TV (LPTV) stations in the USA have been let off the hook in regard to the digital transition – for a while, at least. The FCC has said that it wants to limit the number of times these stations need to make frequency changes. Its statement read, “[T]he broadcast television spectrum incentive auction and repacking process will potentially displace a significant number of LPTV and TV translator stations and, because of this, it tentatively concluded to postpone the September 1, 2015 digital transition date to avoid requiring analogue stations to incur the costs of transitioning to digital before completion of the auction and repacking process”.
