The Christmas period is a time when many of us relax in front of the TV. Too much relaxation, of course, means that we’ll fall asleep and miss half the show. Netflix has an uncommon solution for this common problem – and it starts with socks. The company has published a guide (http://tinyurl.com/h5sjs3y) on how to build your own ‘smart socks’ – using an Arduino microcontroller, among other components – which will pause playback when the wearer has remained inactive for a set period of time. They’re not for the casual user, requiring some knowledge of soldering and programming, but as a marketing tool it certainly works well!
