Epson Hails First Portable Projector With QR Code Connectivity

Epson has launched what it describes as the first-ever portable business projector to feature QR code connectivity, the EB-W28. The projector displays a QR code that can be used to connect devices such as tablets directly to the projector wirelessly.

The HDMI input is MHL-ready, enabling further smart device connectivity via a cable to a smartphone or tablet. This new model has vertical and horizontal keystone correction, plus optical zoom and also has split-screen functionality. Epson describes the resolution as ‘WXGA’ (we hate this term at Large Display Monitor, as it can refer to 1280 x 720, 1280 x 800 or 1366 x 768 resolutions – although in this case it’s 1280 x 800). The EB-W28 has 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 3,000 lumens from a 200W lamp and uses Epson’s 3LCD technology (0.59 inch with MLA) to which Epson claims produces “equally high white and colour light output for bright and vivid colours”. Weignt is 2.4Kgs and the lens has 1.2:1 zoom that is rated for images from 33″ (0.83m) to 320″ (8.1m).
