Dolby Vision Comes to Xbox One — For Select TVs Only

Dolby Vision video streaming is now available for alpha and beta testers on Xbox One S and X gaming consoles.

Only Netflix is supported for now — those signed up to Microsoft’s testing programmes can now access the 400 hours worth of Dolby Vision content currently offered by the platform by activating it in their console’s settings.

However, not all Dolby Vision-capable TVs are able to access the format on Xbox One at the moment. The list of compatible models includes Funai, LG (2017 and 2018) and Sony sets but excludes those from Loewe, Hisense, TCL and Vizio, as well as LG’s 2016 range.

There’s been no official word from Microsoft as to what their definition of “the latest version of Dolby Vision” is exactly, though several reports have suggested it relates to the format’s special low-latency profile, putting the onus squarely on TV makers to add support for Xbox users.
