Deutsche Bahn has launched a pilot project at the Berlin Südkreuz railway station, trialling high-brightness touch screens and beacon technology. Six dual-sided totems, each with 3,000 cd/m² of brightness and 1920 x 1080 resolution, are in use. The beacons use Bluetooth to communicate with passengers within 100m, who have downloaded a special app. The beacons will inform travelers about traffic and spaces for children and disabled users on the trains.
