CRT TVs Can be Dangerous

To promote National TV Safety Day in the USA, which was held on the 6th February, the CTA and Safe Kids Worldwide released a worrying statistic: a child in the US dies every three weeks from a TV tipping over. About half (47%) of such accidents happen in a bedroom. CRT TVs were identified as the main risk; such sets are much larger and heavier than modern LCD TVs, and can fall from an average-height dresser with a force of more than 5,400kg. Parents were urged to secure such TVs, or recycle them if no longer needed.
