Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) says it plans to start construction of a new 6G plant in Fujian in September, with commercial production scheduled to begin in the second half of 2017. Initial monthly production capacity will be 30,000 sheets measuring 1.85 metres by 1.5 metres, producing small and medium panels for smartphone and tablet use.
CPT will invest $1.9 billion in the new plant through its subsidiary, CPT Technology (Group), with the investment being funded through the issue of new shares through a private placement. After raising the necessary funds for the new plant, CPT will set up a wholly-owned subsidiary in Fujian to run the production complex.
