Continental and its tech partner trinamiX have picked up a CES Innovation Award for their Biometrics Sensing Display, which cleverly hides monitoring technology behind an OLED dashboard screen. They’ll unveil this at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 7 to 10.
The display includes a camera and laser dot projector concealed behind the screen, making it a seamless addition to vehicle interiors. It offers features like 3D distance mapping to optimize airbag deployment, detects if seat belts are in use, and uses biometric imaging to monitor things like heart rate. The system can identify stress or medical emergencies and take action to protect passengers.
The Biometrics Sensing Display imaging technology was developed by trinamiX, a BASF subsidiary, to analyze light reflections from the laser dot projector. Artificial intelligence processes this data to provide insights.
