According to the Xinhua News Agency, Chinese FPD makers have formed an alliance to boost their global competitiveness. The alliance, which has not been named, was launched on 11th October. The launch event saw stakeholders discuss mergers between domestic and overseas players and the establishment of industrial clusters and national laboratories.
Two members of the alliance have been named: BOE and Tunghsu Group, neither of which had provided a comment at the time of writing.
Wang Jun, an analyst with Analysys International, told the Global Times, “The setting up of the alliance will allow more discussion and result in the establishment of industry standards, creating a fairer and more orderly environment for domestic companies to thrive… Without an industry alliance, the regulations may not fully and adequately reflect the inherent trends of specific industries, and may even restrict growth”.
