The People’s Post and Telecommunications News, of China, says that an OS to rival those from Microsoft, Google and Apple could be deployed by October. The paper quoted the head of an official OS development alliance, Ni Guangnan, who said that the system would appear on desktop devices first. It would then be extended to smartphones and other mobile devices. The problem facing the Chinese development of an OS recently has been too many developers working on different projects – or basing their work on Android. Ni hopes that the software would be able to replace desktop systems in 1-2 years and mobile systems in 3-5.
