China’s Big Four Plan LCD Investment

Japan’s Nippon Keizai newspaper predicts that China will lead the world in LCD panel production by 2018, beating Korea. It is said that China’s big four display makers will build seven new factories in the country over the next three years, with an investment value of about $25 billion. BOE will build three factories in Hefei, Puju and Chengdu, for example, planning to start production in 2017 or 2018 (BOE Announces Investment in Gen 10.5 LCD Fab). Tianma will produce small- and medium-size panels in Xiamen and Wuhan. The paper does not give a source for its claim.
