China Mobile Communications increased its 4G customers by 6,395 million to total 560 million in February, but overall there was a reduction of 63% in new customers, when compared to January. This was the second consecutive month of new customer overall reduction.
China Mobile stated that the first quarter of the year is traditionally not very good for increased sales. Brand sales in February showed a decline of more than 10%, although Huawei branded phones were relatively stable
A Sigmaintell survey shows that smartphone sales in China were nearly 36.3 million in February, representing a fall of 12.6%, when compared to January. The proportion of HD720 devices increased, mainly due to Huawei, MI and Meizu, and some other new models. Overall, the proportion of HD720 devices increased by 2.4% to 35.3%, when compared to January.
China’s smartphone panel shipments in the month were 48.9 million, which is down 14.2%, when compared to January.
