China Makers Raise Panel Market Share

According to China’s Sigmaintell Consulting, BOE, CSOT and Nanjing CEC Panda together shipped 79.4 million large-size TFT-LCD panels in the first half of the year. This is a 16% YoY increase and represents 20.3% of the global total (up 3.5% YoY). 28.7 million panels were for TVs, up 48% and representing 21.8% of the global total . This increase came from China makers’ new G8.5 fabs. LCD monitor and tablet panel shipments dropped 3% and 11%, respectively, due to declining end-user demand.
