In the first quarter of the year, Canon Inc recorded a net profit of ¥33.9 billion ($285 million) on turnover of ¥857.4 billion ($7.2 billion), which compares with a Q1 net profit a year earlier of ¥47.6 billion ($400.3 million) on turnover of ¥868.3 billion ($7.3 billion).
