BSkyB Adds to Roku Investment

BSkyB has invested a further $0.7 million in Roku, taking its total investment in the OTT streaming platform to $12.2 million. The funds will be used by Roku to finance its operations and activities. 21st Century Fox, which holds a 39% controlling stake in BSkyB, also made a further equity investment in Roku.

In July 2012, Roku received a total investment of $45 from News Corporation, BSkyB, Menlo Ventures and Globespan Capital Partners, as well as an unnamed strategic investor (Display Monitor Vol 19 No 31). In November 2012, Sky’s ‘Now TV’ VoD service was made available on Roku set-top boxes (Display Monitor Vol 19 No 48).
