BQ Follows E4.5 With Larger Ubuntu Smartphone

The world’s second Ubuntu smartphone has been announced by Spain’s BQ and Canonical. The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition follows BQ’s E4.5 in February (Canonical Promises Break from the Norm With Ubuntu).

Although full specs have not been revealed, an Android version of the phone already exists. The Aquaris E5 Full HD is a 5″ model with 1920 x 1080 resolution (the Ubuntu Edition has 1280 x 720) and 4G connectivity.

BQ’s new model uses a 1.3GHz quad-core processor from Mediatek, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It also features a 13MP rear camera and dual SIM slots.

The Aquaris E5 HD Ubuntu Edition will be launched in mid-June, for €165 ex VAT.
