What They Say
The Elec reports that BOE has had to reduce its shipments of OLEDs to Apple because of a shortage of driver chips which it is said to be buying from LX Semicon (formerly Silicon Works). It is said to be planning 2-3 million in the next two months. The paper said that local reports put the total to be shipped by BOE to Apple this year at about 30 million, with two thirds in the second half.
The report said that LX Semicon is prioritising shipments to LG Display.
What We Think
Paul Kedrosky reported that the number of ships outside LA & Long Beach seems to be past its peak. It would be good to see logistic issues easing and I have seen recently that container prices have been reducing again, which is good news for global suppliers. (BR)
