BMW Takes on Osram OLEDs

Four weeks ago, LG announced that it was supplying OLEDs for Audi’s TT RS coupe. Osram has now joined the same market, developing and supplying OLEDs for the taillights in BMW’s M4 GTS. Although the announcement comes a month later, Osram says that its lights will be first on the road in a production car: Audi’s RS won’t reach customers until September. Osram split the OLED area into two free-form segments to incorporate the design demands of BMW. 15 OLEDs are used in each taillight, with a brightness of 1,200 cd/m².
