BMW Park Unveils World’s First Full-LED Video Sports Floor

BMW Park is making headlines as the world’s first professional sports arena to permanently install a full-LED video glass floor. The innovative installation cocers approximately 580 square meters and is a product of ASB GlassFloor, a provider of sports flooring solutions.

Constructed from high-strength tempered glass, the floor is designed for various sports. The surface undergoes a computer-controlled chemical deep etching process to make the low-friction matte finish, with elevated ceramic dots embedded in the glass to give it grip. BMW Park claims that the floor’s composition significantly reduces strain on joints, thanks to its shock absorption capabilities even as it allows for ball play and bounce. There’s also a system that provides real-time position data of athletes with immediate feedback on their movements, optimized for training and in-game strategy.

The floor integrates millions of LED points beneath the glass surface delivering a range of visual displays from team logos and sponsor branding to real-time game data and emotional video messages.

The floor is already being used for Bundesliga home games by FC Bayern Basketball and the first-division volleyball team from Herrsching. The venue is now equipped to host a wide range of events, from corporate presentations and roller discos to entertainment shows, all enhanced by the floor’s dynamic visual capabilities.
