Miami-based Blu Products has added an incredibly low-cost model to its lineup: the $100 R1 HD – or $50 on Amazon.
Price is a key feature with the R1 HD. Buying the phone by itself will cost $100, but Amazon is subsidising the cost to $50 for Prime members. This is because the phone, when purchased through Amazon, will show personalised offers and adverts on the lock screen.
The 5″ phone is made using aluminium, with Gorilla Glass protecting the 1280 x 720 display (420 cd/m² of brightness). It runs Android 6.0 on a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor with Mali-T720 graphics.
An 8MP camera is installed on the rear of the device and a 5MP camera on the front. The phone features 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage, or 2GB and 16GB. It has a 2,500mAh battery.
Blu will begin to sell the R1 HD on the 12th July.
