Building on its previously-announced work (Barco is Ready for Lamp-Free Projection), Barco has shared news of two new solid-state DLP projectors, which will reach up to 18,000 lumens of brightness. The DP2K-20CLP and DP2K-15CLP are laser phosphor projectors, set to be shipped in Q2’16.
Both new models are designed for the digital cinema market, as mid-range projectors. They will last up to 30,000 hours (to 50% brightness), thanks to the separate cooler module. They also consume up to 50% less energy than lamp-based models, says Barco. Additionally, Barco has announced laser phosphor retrofit modules for the lamp-based DP2K-15C and -20C projectors. The lamp house can be replaced with a laser-phosphor module, converting them into solid-state products.
Aside from brightness, the projectors are identical. The DP2K-20CLP reaches 18,000 lumens, while the -15CLP reaches 13,500 lumens. Both models have 2048 x 1080 resolution and a 2,200:1 contrast ratio. Multiple lens options provide throw ratios between 1.2-1.8:1 and 2.4-3.9:1.
Dimensions are 694 x 1,034 x 558mm and weight is 110kg. More details will be released closer to the projectors’ launch date. The first units will be installed in China.
