Monthly production at AUO’s G8.5 facilities in Houli, Taiwan, will be increased by between 25,000 and 30,000 substrates by 2016, said company president Paul Peng. The move will add 5% to AUO’s overall capacity. It is part of a shift towards more profitability, said Peng, not just market share. AUO will allocate NT$40 billion ($1.2 billion) to the expansion, as well as adding new capacity at the company’s operations in Kunshan, China.
