AUO Sees Slow Sales in September

AU Optronics (AUO) saw its monthly sales fall 3.5% year on year in September to NT$35.6 billion ($1.1 billion) taking sales in the first nine months of the year to NT$302.7 billion ($9.9 billion), down 3.5% year on year. Sales in the third quarter improved 4.8% to NT$106.9 billion ($3.5 billion), slightly down on the third quarter of 2013. AUO shipped 9.86 million large panels in September, down 1.3% from the previous month and 6% lower YoY. Shipments in the third quarter totaled 29.48 million units, up y 2.2% quarter on quarter and 0.5% YoY. Small and medium sized panel shipments fell 9.5% month on month to 15.06 million units, just 0.8% higher than September 2013, while for the quarter, shipments reached 48.23 million units, representing a 4.2% increase from the second quarter of 2014 and a 9.4% increase from Q3 2013.
