AU Optronics (AUO) started the year with a drop in sales for January, which fell 4.6% month on month (MoM) to NT$32.1 billion ($1 billion), though this was 1.7% higher year on year. The company shipped around 9.6 million large panels in January, up by 2.7% from the previous month but down 2% year on year. Small and medium panel shipments increased by 5.6% sequentially to 13.6 million units, 12.4% higher than January 2014.
