AUO will begin to ship bezel-less panels for UltraHD TVs in Q1’16, say sources in the Asian supply chain. Instead of using bonded drivers under the bezel, the company will use gate driver on array (GOA) technology, similar to Sharp’s Freeform Display. AUO hopes that such units will exceed 30% of all UltraHD TV panel shipments this year. Additionally, AUO has said that it will begin to produce UltraHD panels using LTPS technology, with 1mm bezels, in Q3’16.
