Asus has announced that the ZenFone 5 is now available for pre-order on its UK eShop. Priced at £349.99 ($386 + tax), those pre-ordering from the eStore will receive £50 off until July 8th, with stock shipping from the 9th.
The new handset features a 6.2″ LCD display with a 1080 × 2246 resolution, 402 pixels per inch, 18.7:9 aspect ratio and screen-to-body ratio of 83.6%. It’s powered by Android 8 and AI technology, with a Snapdragon 636 chipset, 64GB internal storage and up to 6GB RAM.
The device’s dual-camera system uses Sony’s IMX363 image sensor, with 1.4μm pixels and a f/1.8 wide-aperture six-element lens that the manufacturer says captures up to five times brighter and clearer photos in low-light conditions, as well as enabling Night HDR shots.
Asus says that the 120° wide-angle secondary camera has a field of view double the width of a standard smartphone camera. The camera system also incorporates AI algorithms and big-data analytics. The phone can be unlocked with face-scanning authentication or using the rear fingerprint sensor, and integrated NFC capability allows ZenFone 5 to be used with Google Pay.
Additionally, ZeniMoji is a feature new to the range that lets users animate avatars using their own voice, facial expressions and head movements. ZeniMoji avatars can be used in video chats or live-streaming, as well as in text chats.
