Asus is planning to launch a new gaming sub-brand called Ares to rival Nvidia’s GeForce Partner Program, translated from a Chinese-language report from Apple Daily by sources in Taiwan. Ares will be used to market the company’s devices with AMD hardware, while the existing “Republic of Gamers” brand will apparently be reserved for its Nvidia-based products. Sources suggest that the brand will launch later this month.
The report also commented on the GeForce Partner Program, which Nvidia has launched to try and stem the continued market share growth of its direct rival, AMD. Market share currently sits at a 70/30 ratio to Nvidia but AMD is beginning to snap at the company’s heels. The report also mentioned that hardware companies Micro-Star International and Gigabyte Technology haven’t yet committed to the GeForce Partner Program.
