Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. saw Q3 net profits of ¥59 billion ($572 million), down 33% from ¥88 billion ($853 million) in the year ago period, on sales which slipped 5% to ¥3.15 trillion ($30.5 billion) from ¥3.31 trillion ($32.1 billion). For the nine months there were profits of ¥329 billion ($3.2 billion), a 23% decrease from ¥427 billion ($4.1 billion), on revenue which fell 5% to ¥9.4 trillion ($91.1 billion) from ¥9.9 trillion ($95.9 billion). The company cited the strong yen but said that it had seen an increase in the shipment of LCD glass substrates.
