Asahi Glass reported financial results for its fiscal year 2017. Net sales for the year were ¥1,463,532 million ($13.304 billion), up 14.1% compared to ¥1,282,570 million reported in fiscal year 2016. Net profit was ¥69,225 million ($629.32 million), up 49.5% compared to ¥47,438 million reported in 2016.
The company said that the selling prices of LCD glass substrates decreased but shipments increased from the previous fiscal year. Shipments of specialty glass for display applications and cover glass for car-mounted displays also showed year-over-year increase.
