Asahi Glass Co. Ltd. has reported its first quarter results, posting a net profit of ¥5.1 billion ($42.8 million) on turnover of ¥325.6 billion ($2.7 billion), which compares with a net profit of ¥8.1 billion ($67.9 million) on turnover of ¥329.1 billion ($2.7 billion) in Q1 of last year. Shipments of LCD glass substrates increased from the previous year, supported by strong demand, though sales prices decreased. Shipments of specialty glass for display applications grew year on year.
