Apple has hired Doug Bowman, a VR researcher who recently went on sabbatical from his post as computer science professor at Virginia Tech. At Virginia, Bowman focused on 3D UI design and ‘the benefits of immersion in virtual environments’, according to his academic profile.
Apple has not said what Bowman’s role will be. However, he has previously worked on both virtual and augmented reality, and won a $100,000 grant from Microsoft last year for his work with the Hololens.
