Apple Fills Vacant COO Spot

Jeff WilliamsApple has filled the position of chief operating officer – a post that has been vacant since Tim Cook became CEO in 2011. Jeff Williams, a former SVP, is the company’s new COO.

Williams joined Apple in 1998 and previously led the company’s supply chain management, being responsible for balancing demand and supply. He also oversaw development of the Apple Watch.

Several other appointments were announced at the same time. Phil Schiller, SVP of marketing, will also take on duties as new head of the App Store – until recently looked after by services head, Eddy Cue.

Johnny Srouji, who leads Apple’s semiconductor design team, has also been named to the executive team, as SVP for hardware technologies.

Tor Myhen will join Apple in Q1’16, as VP of marketing communications.
