AltBalaji OTT Offers Alternative to Mainstream Indian TV

Balalji Telefilms of India is launching AltBalaji, an OTT entertainment platform that aims to provide 300 hours of original shows in the first year. The commercial launch will be in mid-April 2017.

The platform has been developed and integrated by Diagnal, and the platform is powered by Xstream’s cloud-based video management system, Xstream MediaMaker. The multiscreen platform will be available on iOS, Android, Windows, Roku, AppleTV, and others.

The service has been designed to provide an alternative to mainstream Indian entertainment and TV content but the service will also be available globally. AltBalaji allows users to freely watch certain content and previews, allowing them to decide which subscription package they require. Premium subscribers will have a parental control feature and can download content to watch offline.

AltBalaji will use Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure for video delivery to all subscribers.
