Affordable All-Screen Smartphones Coming in 2018

The coveted screen-to-body ratio seen in flagship phones like the iPhone X will filter down to mid and entry-level devices in 2018, according to Digitimes.

Citing data from Chinese market research company All View Cloud (AVC), the publication forecast that all-screen smartphone displays will account for 40% of all handset panel shipments this year. AVC has also reportedly predicted that “almost all” flagship smartphones from major vendors will incorporate an all-screen display. The data also predicted that the average smartphone display size will reach 5.6″ in 2018.

In terms of all-screen smartphone panel shipments, AVC’s data showed that Samsung came out on top in 2017 with 136 million and 64.6% of market share, way ahead of Tianma Microelectronics with 23 million units and AU Optronics with 13 million. Full-screen AMOLED smartphone panels also reached 139 million units in 2017.
